Stahlhelm is the name of the helmet of the German army, it was used during the campain of Verdun in 1916. At the end of 1917, this type of helmet was used by the Austro-Hungarian and Turkish armies.

Along the old trenches of the Italian-Austrian front you can still find remains of helmets.

The helmets were extremely useful for the soldiers, in fact prior to their use most of the injuries even deadly injuries, were those in the head.
